We remember our last hangout done with our friends but not with our family ( when i say Family it means our first cousins and relatives )..The kind of lifestyle we live in friends occupy relatively more time and we are in constant touch with them either thru personal meetings or Social Media..Networking offline and online both !!
I was researching for figures related to various Social Networking sites and yes the kindof time spent on it...
This chart clearly distinguishes professional media experts from the non professionals ones..So to link the factors if you are in 5-10 hour bracket and again pointing back to our lifestyle , routine ;we are inching more closer to our friends and online world.... Because it doesnt leave us time for physical world activities ( now the pros n cons of it is another debate !!! )
Going further ahead, lets take an example...Facebook..It now has more than 140 million active users, 70 percent of whom are outside the U.S. The number of active users added each month seems to be accelerating, only half are in college, and the fastest-growing demographic is 25 years and older. There are now 52,000 apps on Facebook, created by 660,000 developers. That's a serious platform. Some of the user engagement stats were also particularly interesting:
User Engagement
* Average user has 100 friends on the site * 2.6 billion minutes are spent on Facebook each day (worldwide) * More than 13 million users update their statuses at least once each day
Applications
* More than 700 million photos uploaded to the site each month * More than 4 million videos uploaded each month * More than 15 million pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photos, etc.) shared each month
whew...if this is the trackrecord of Facebook alone, what figures will emerge when we will talk about Google...
....continued......
In fact, of course, social media is now more important than ever and there is a lot to think about immediately to learn more about them. For example you can read an essay on social media here https://studydriver.com/social-media , since there is a lot of analysis here I even used it for my university dissertation. That is why I think it is worth a closer look. Good luck, I hope I was able to help some of the students with this interesting question.
