LEAP Bridge v8i (SELECTseries 2) v10.00.01 incorporates the following significant enhancements and fixes to itself and its component programs:

LEAP Bridge v10.00.01

Enhancements:

• ABC Wizard now allows users to model T beam bridges, reinforced or post-tensioned
• ProjectWise integration is now available directly from within LEAP Bridge. Open, Save and Update files directly from ProjectWise repositories
• Specify or edit bearing and beam seat (/pedestals) dimensions and location directly within LEAP Bridge
• Specify span details such as bearing line offsets and girder clearances at each support in ABC Wizard
• Optionally specify pier locations by station numbers and program computes span lengths
• Edit Roadway Elements such as alignment, profile and cross-section directly in LEAP Bridge
• Create, save, edit and re-use ABC Data using the ABC datasets dialog.

LEAP CONSPAN v10.00.01

Enhancements:

• ProjectWise integration is now available directly from within CONSPAN. Open, Save and Update files directly from ProjectWise repositories.
• Updates per the 2010 AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• New module to check lateral beam stability during lifting and transportation.
• Integrated design status window in strand pattern dialog for increased efficiency.
• Reduced data file sizes.
• Improved auto-design strand pattern routines.
• Schematic representation of live load configuration in library has been added.
• Option to customize company name and logo in report(output) headers.
• Specify Rebar in beam, and optionally consider its contribution in Moment Capacity.
• Report on estimated quantities per Beam including concrete, strands, and stirrups.
• LRFD classification of beam type for live load distribution factor computation is now printed.
• Horizontal Shear: Option to specify stirrups extending into deck and auto-design option to specify contact width for horizontal/interface shear have been added.
• Dead load Wizard: Now allows users to input additional load values directly into the grid.
• New check for dimensions as per LRFD 5.14.1.2.2 is now part of report.
• NEXT beams (NEXT D type) now available in library.
• A GUI enhancement made on the beam tab, allows users to double click any beam to bring up the strand pattern dialog. All beams with a strand pattern defined are marked by a blue dot.
• CONSPAN is now updated to work with Virtis/Opis v6.2.
• Updated to Florida DOT SDG 2010. Also, new beam sections FIB84 and FIB96 have been added to the library.

Fixes:

• Fixed a problem with flared girder geometry definition which in some cases resulted in unreasonably large effective width values.
• Updates to ensure performance on Windows 7 operating systems.
• Fixed a problem where-in writing the same bridge a second time to Virtis/Opis caused an error.
• The AREA Cooper E-80 truck is now available under LRFD live loads (design live load)
• For some cases, in the distribution factor printout, a note indicating that Lever rule was used was printed unnecessarily. This has been fixed.
• A program crash when editing the allowable stress limit on the beam tab was fixed.
• Fixed an error in Horizontal Shear output which incorrectly showed values in in²/in rather than in²/ft.
• A warning message is now displayed if overhang width is greater than S/2 as per LRFD 4.6.2.6.1.

LEAP CONBOX v10.00.01

Enhancements:

• ProjectWise integration is now available directly from within CONBOX. Open, Save and Update files directly from ProjectWise repositories.
• Reactions can now be automatically transferred to RC-PIER within LEAP Bridge.
• Bearings are assumed to be located under each web/girder for the box and T-beam bridges or at 12 in (300 mm) o.c. for slab bridges. The reactions are equally distributed among all bearings.
• Users can define crash barriers, sidewalks/footpaths, pedestrian railing, and wearing surface. The loads are automatically generated and added to the Loads tree under the Loads/Analysis tab
• A report on material quantities of concrete, mild steel, and post-tensioning tendon has been added.
• Numbering for the girders/beams has been added for clarity.
• Right-click option allows users to add a specific load to all load combinations. Duplicates of a specific load are not allowed in any load combination.
• Descriptive labels have been added to the allowable stress input boxes in the Design Parameters dialog box for clarity.
• The design summary shown under the Design Tab and the Load Combination dialog boxes have been enhanced with additional details for clarity.
• Headers and Footers for the reports are updated to accommodate long file names.
• Rating analysis now does not check tensile stress in concrete for reinforced concrete bridges.
• To reduce confusion, Stresses and Displacements Reports for the Ultimate/Strength Limit States have been eliminated.

Fixes:

• Rating analysis (LFR) correctly uses the user-defined Phi factors.
• Area of prestressing, A_p, is now equally distributed among all girders in the calculation of shear strength.
• The user-defined "holes" in the solid slab cross-section are now correctly accounted for. The slab section with the holes is approximated as an equivalent I-section for in the calculation of shear and flexure strengths.
• The Capacity/Demand (C/D) ratio for the Strain Compatibility method reported in the Moment Capacity Report is now correctly calculated.
• Calculated moment capacity in LRFR now does not change when user changes the PT Loss method.
• The label in the detail moment capacity report (LFD) is revised to correctly show "1.2 M_cr". Previously the factor "1.2" was not shown.
• The calculation of M_cr (LFD) now correctly uses the un-factored initial stress. Previously a factor of 1.3 was incorrectly applied to the initial stress.
• In LFD mode, the Ultimate moments now only include the secondary moments due to prestress. Previously, the primary moments were incorrectly included in the Ultimate moments.
• The Design Parameters now do not get reset to the default values in the hard-copy printouts or upon re-opening the input files.
• The larger of the two values provided for load factor of TU (force effect due to uniform temperature) is used for deformations and the smaller value for forces; this was reversed in the previous version.

LEAP RC-PIER v10.00.01

Enhancements:

• ProjectWise integration is now available directly from within RC-PIER. Open, Save and Update files directly from ProjectWise repositories.
• All loads acting on the piers and abutments are now shown graphically in the 3D view.
• The limit on the number of iterations for P-Delta analysis has been increased to 30.
• Auto load generation of seismic forces is updated to LRFD 5^th Edition.
• Pile cap abutments can now be analyzed continuous beams.
• A customizable reinforcement library now is added.
• Program now allows users to exclude torsion from shear and torsion design check.
• Footing definition is now brought in geometry tab, for convenience.
• Footing design can now be specified to be based on the forces acting at the bottom of the footing. Previously only the forces at the top of the footing were considered.
• The footing tab is completely redesigned for clarity. Now, the footing design status is instantly updated as users modify footing reinforcement. A new footing tab allows users to define additional loads such as dead load, soil surcharge etc on the footing. These loads are in addition to the loads transferred from columns.
• In the previous version, lateral resistance was only based on the horizontal component of the axial force in the battered pile. Now, the users can specify direct lateral resistance for the individual pile. Thus, total lateral resistance of one pile is now equal to direct later resistance plus the horizontal component derived from the batter, if any. A consolidated "Lateral Resistance Computation" report is added. This report shows the total lateral load on the footing and the total lateral resistance of all piles in the footing. The report is generated for both maximum and minimum governing load combinations. The bearing definition is now directly read from LEAP Bridge database for prestressed girders (CONSPAN) and for boxes, T-beams, and slabs (CONBOX).
• Concrete and reinforcement material quantity report has been added.
• 2D views now display drilled shafts.
• The A/D Parameters dialog box has been re-designed as a tabbed interface for clarity.

Fixes:                                      

• For column with spring bases, P-Delta analysis was generating incorrect results. This is fixed. The improved P-Delta routine is now convergent in all cases including columns with diagonal and/or 6x6 springs.
• Trapezoidal loads acting on columns were not getting correctly saved. This is fixed.
• In some instances, when a strut was defined between columns, auto design of column was resulting in a crash. This is now fixed.
• For manually defined truck and lane load, program was incorrectly applying impact factor to both the truck and the lane loads. This is now fixed; the impact factor is now only applied to the truck load.
• 2D view of pile cap abutment was showing incorrect bearing locations. This is fixed.
• For Box Bridge, when live load reaction was imported from CONBOX, program was not differentiating between design truck and permit truck reactions. Program now correctly imports the live load reaction depending on the selected truck.
• If RC-PIER was launched within LEAP Bridge and the file was saved as a standalone RC-PIER file, bearings were not getting saved with the file. This is fixed.
• In footing design status, the reported sign (+/-) of footing eccentricity in z direction was incorrect. This is fixed.
• In some cases under the Moment Magnification method, the limit of 100 on the slenderness ratio was not being checked and flagged. This is now corrected.

Upgrading from LEAP Bridge v9.x, v8.x or v7.x

• Make a backup copy of your modified default libraries (in the /Lib folder) by copying the files to a different location other than the original folder.
• Run the downloaded setup file.
• Follow the on-screen instructions and install the program. The program will automatically be installed in the existing LEAP Bridge folder. The existing license key will be transferred automatically to LEAP Bridge v10.00.01 without any further authorization action required by the user.
• Restore the back-up copies of the libraries (created in step 1 above) to the LEAP Bridge folder.
