Using ARCore for subsurface utility visualization

Last fall, we tested Google's ARCore, the Augmented Reality library that runs on smartphones.  We applied it to subsurface utility visualization.

Results were not perfect, but the technology definitely looks promising!

  • Hi,

    It would be good to:

    • include tools to measure stuff?
    • augment a Context Capture model with something like Occipital or Kaarta? Or in future, the presuambly cheaper solid state lidar scanners that driverless cars would bring in?

I wonder if the mobile phone could be used as a means accurately position or query setting out points in conjuction with a surveying app like Trimble BC?
