Placing walls has become much more complicated after Architecture has begun to make use of datagroups in my opinion. The reason is that place wall has got a very user-unfriendly interface. While the division into single layer walls and compound walls probably makes sense, the devision into exterior and interior wall definitely doesn't make sense to me at all. It just makes things incredibly crowded. It would be much better to let the user define filters.
I agree for many reasons
For the creattion of DGWALLS should acutomatically happen after creating a new part as any part can be a DGPART or WALL
You should be able to opt to say NO. Maybe just a toolt to take a part and make a DGWALL from that part as much of the information is already within the part.
Then the same for a Assembly.
This going from WYSIWYG to PROGRAMMING is BUTT UGGGLY
AECOsim Building Designer V8i Beta has a new "edit catalog organization", which lets you organize your items in one way or the other. No possibility to use part families or datagroup names at the moment however.
