...and my apologies to Boston.
It's been, let's see... one, two, almost three months since I last posted. Hmm.... gotta do better on that one, right? Nobody's perfect. I suppose I shouldn't keep all three of you waiting so long with baited breath.
Yeah, sure. But in all seriousness, Bentley is keeping a lot of users waiting, too. We've heard a lot about Athens and for quite some time. Heck, I remember seeing at and test-driving it at BE 2007, and hearing bits of information about it before that. The year 2009 will be upon us in only three short months. That's nearly two years of speculation. In that time, Bentley's main competitors over in California have released not only their flagship product, but all its verticals, too - and done so twice. I think it's safe to say we are glad Bentley does not put out product so frequently, for a number of reasons. But having heard so much about Athens for so long makes me ask: when?
I get that Bentley wants to put out a quality product. And I get that takes an incredible amount of effort to do; like I said before, nobody's perfect. I've heard some less than flattering stuff about those products-programmed-and-released-every-year-by-some-company-in-California-lets-skip-this-release.
I guess I am just curious why it's taking so long, or seems to. Are some of the features taking awhile to get the bugs out of? Maybe the georeferencing? Maybe the dynamic views?
Or might the new library exchange with Autodesk be making its way into Athens? The next release of AutoCAD will be a "third-year" release, which means that Autodeak is likely to update the DWG format yet again. Wouldn't it be nice if Athens would read and write AutoCAD 2010 DWG files from day one? It could happen.
Besides, in that instance Bentley could try blaming Autodesk for the delay in Athens... :-)
what do you you expect when you spend all your time buying products rather than integrating and devleping what you already have....
Hmmm... when guitar talk to bass, bass listen. Thanks much!
Now if harmonica talk to bass... oops! My apolgies to Buddy and Ray :-)
A little bird said to keep your eyes out for the worm, as soon as this week??????
