  • ABD SS6 - Adding a DataGroup Property (Embodied CO2)

This exercise will use a number of SS6 features, in particular the new interface to the DataGroup system.

It was prompted by a question about calculating the Embodied CO2 contained in building elements.

    The steps involved are:

    • Create the new Embodied CO2 property
    • Add it to DG Items
    • Output to a schedule

  • Setting Up in the Real World – GeoReferencing : Large Sites

In the case of linear infrastructure it is fairly obvious that each major facility along a route will have its own GCS. Other cases may be less clear cut. Take an airport.

This diagrammatic example (the runways are the length of London Heathrow) shows how buildings relating to a large campus are spaced out over the site in various orientations and relationships:

Overlay this with the AECOsim Building Designer (ABD) 4…

  • Setting Up in the Real World - Labelling Coordinates

    Background

There is often a need to label coordinates with real world positions or positions relative to a site datum.

For straightforward projects requiring 2D setting out coordinates in X/Y or Northing/Easting simply referencing the building model(s) into a 2D setting out file at real world location and rotation then labelling the coordinates may be the ideal and simple solution.

This method works well in the case of placing…
