Clipping point clouds with element

Hi.

I have scanned a secant pile wall and now I am trying to clip the point cloud with an element. The element is constructed by lines defining different distances from the front of the pile wall. I have made a shape (both complex and simpel). A shape that has many bends and corners,

My problems is that the clipping is not working - what am I doing wrong? Are there any limitations to the use of a element? If I make a much smaller and simpler shape I can get it to Work. But it will take me hours to clip the wall if I have to do the clipping that way.

Hope someone can help me!

I am using V8i SS3. Do I need Descartes?

Unfortunately the kind of elements that are supported by the point cloud clipping function is limited (see communities.bentley.com/.../314873).

Unfortunately the kind of elements that are supported by the point cloud clipping function is limited (see communities.bentley.com/.../314873).

Do you know what these limitations are? It is not clear from the other post. I am only using one (2D) element/clip, but it is a element (shape) consisting of many lines.

From the looks of it the future Microstation can solve my problem.
Right now I am using the beta 3, and it does not have the same limitations as v8i. I can both clip by element and export.
A solution for v8i would still be nice.

Hi Morten,

Hmm, it is very strange that the MicroStation Connect EAP3 works for you since the element validation code is the same that in V8i?

Maybe if you could send me a small dataset I can check why it doesn't work on Microstation V8i.

By the way here are the elements supported by the point cloud clip tool :

- Shape
- Complex shape
- Solid Slab

Also note that no smart solids are supported.
