Text Nodes Not Shown in a Version of Microstation

Dear Forum,

im working with 2 computers and both have differing versions of Microstation [Dont ask!!].

In a particular file, the one with Select Series 1 finds 'Text Nodes' and shows them. The same file with Select Series 3 Microstation shows they are there in the Level Usage Dialog but refuses to find them or display them.

Any ideas why this might be? Ive tried everything i know to locate them on the SS3 machine?!?!?!

  • Hi,

To have a good idea of what you mean, it would be good if you could share your file (or a sample with the same behavior).

    Just a few thoughts:
    - Could I be that you are looking at two different files that have an identical name but that are in different locations?
    - When you go to Settings>View Attributes, is the option to display text nodes (lower right) ON?
    - Is your background color in both versions set to black or to white (Workspace>Preferences, View Options (Black Background -> White), or maybe to a different color?
    - Are you in a 2D or in a 3D file, if so can you use the Fit View command to see if the text nodes are 'somewhere in depth) and not displaying because of front or back clipping settings in View Attributes?
    - Did you specify transparency for the text nodes?
    - Is your display style set to wireframe?

    hth.

    Regards,

    Henk

Is it simply that they are invisible?

    Menu Settings|View Attributes...

  • hi Jon, Henk,

the file is the exact same file on ProjectWise.

Text Nodes setting doesn't actually need to be on for Fit All to 'find'them. When its settings is 'Off' Microstation still finds them in fitting a 'view all', although doesn't show them so they are included in the Bounding Box that the Fit All does. One version fits the view with Text Nodes fitted in, one doesnt. Although when i want to see them i can turn setting 'Text Nodes' on. Also i have tried all connotations of setting on and off in the file that does not see them. No difference, it still doesn't find them or see them.

-All your other points relate to 'seeing' the Nodes, which in the file that finds them, i can.

One version simply does not see them as being 'in the file', and i dont know why...

Any other settings that deal with Text Nodes i can try?
Do different version deal with Text Nodes differently?
does it matter this file is from AutoCAD and does that affect the way the text nodes are handled?

Possibly, but unless you respond to Henk's request for sample data then nobody can examine the evidence.

  • what are the two versions of MicroStation being used ? Are there any addition apps running with these versions (IE: InRoads, GeoPak, etc,,) ? Is there a custom workspace being used by one version and not another ?
The "text node" option in view attributes is file specific so if it is on, it should be on for both versions.
I agree that maybe the file should be posted for testing.
