Raster editing issues

I am working for a client that uses Microstation V8. Some of the drawings have .tif images attached, while some are only tif that i need to attach myself to blank Microstation files. the problem I have been having is that once i attach the tif i am unable to modify it. i am using I.RASB and all the functions of the rater manager work correctly. however none of the features of the modify panel work. i get an error message "no raster layer loaded" does anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

  • thank you for your quick reply! after reading your response, I believe it is an issue with my attachment method. Once i attach the raster it will only show up in either the raster manger or the layer info dialog box. I work primarily with AutoCAD, and dont have much experience with this version of Microstation. Could you point me in the direction of a good tutorial on the subject?
Once again thanks for your help and information.
  • I am assuming you are trying to modify the TIF image in I/Rasb. You will need to make sure the TIF image is Monochrome. If you are running MicroStation and I/Rasb XM then in MicroStation > Raster Manager double click on the raster image name and it will bring up an Element Information box. Under Image look at Color Mode. If it is RGB or Gray Scale then you will not be able to attach the TIF image in I/Rasb. If you are running MicroStation and I/Rasb V8.5 (2004) then do Raster Manager > Settings > Attachment and look at Format. If It is not Monochrome then you will not be able to attach the TIF image in I/Rasb.

In I/Rasb if you do File > Layer Info > All Layers do you see your TIF attached? If not, then you will need to do File > Attach and attach your TIF image.

If your problem is that your TIF image is not Monochrome then in MicroStation > Raster Manager you use Save As or Batch Convert and convert your TIF image and create a TIF image that is Monochrome. The steps will depend upon what version of MicroStation and I/Rasb that you are running.
