Creating Section Cuts for Sheets

So I have a new question...

I have a point cloud of a tunnel and I would like to create section cuts through the point cloud at 6 inch increments to verify the tunnel is in "good shape" and there are no anomalies throughout.  Also I believe this information would help the client.

So I am aware that in the model by section tool you can create a template and move at a determined interval along the point cloud copying the template and making adjustments based on the data shown. Now, instead of creating a 3D model from these section cuts, is there away to have Descartes/Microstation put them in a tile pattern in order?  I don't need it to label them or anything (although if it could that would be a plus).

I get that I could copy the template over and then manually arrange them in a tile pattern, but the fact that I have 40+ feet of pipe and I would like to have the interval as small as possible to decrease the error chance would be awesome if Bentley was a step ahead on this one.

  • Pascal,

For clarifications sake, I have a pipe that is 40 feet long and I would like to create section views at 6 inch increments along this pipe. Is there a tool that allows me to rapidly create these views and align them in a tile/grid pattern to quickly create sheets?

Also will these views display a point cloud or will I need to go into each section view and digitize a line for the pipe following the point cloud?

If I am required to trace digitize the pipe then is there a quick way to do it, as in the process of modeling by section and copying over templates?

On a side note, I am using Descartes under the pretense that it is Bentley's best tool for point cloud processing and modeling. If you or anyone else are aware of a better tool that could help me with my goal please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Curtis
