Hi,
I want to show you a movie I made in poinTools. I will be happy to listen to any comments you might have.. Except about the missing animations. :)
I personally have fallen head-over-heels in love with the way the 3D-points feel detailed and real, as compared to traditional mesh-based visualisations (in my pointool-damaged brain anyways) and plan to continue to improve on this "3D-photoshop-collage-visualisation approach" :)
I used available lidar pointclouds coupled with my own method of exporting CAD-designs to point clouds and am especially proud of my 3D-perlin-terrain-with-vegetation shader. At least the idea.. heh.. I still need to find the time to develop a proper shader work area. All the shaders were coded "blindfolded" and weren't visible for validation until exported from microStation and imported in poinTools. I am sure I could have fine-tuned them further if it was a real-time experience.. Hopefully I get the time someday.
I rendered and edited all 6 minutes of the movie in just a few days on an office laptop! The return time is so fast! :D
Anyways, enjoy the show, or don't :
The new railroad Copenhagen-Ringsted
Still from movie:
ill. point cloud from CAD. The entire structure from the rails to the left, to the road to the right, originated from CAD-files.
