Using Descartes to extract vector outline of raster data?

Bentley Descartes 08.11.09.601 
 I often have rasters representing sonar data that look something like this; 
 
 What I would like to do is extract an outline polygon of the area containing the actual data in the red hue. Can anyone suggest a tool or workflow that I could use to get this done? At the moment I am just digitizing the outline which is time consuming and not highly accurate.

You can try using the "Color Mask" and "Vectorize" tools of Bentley Descartes to achieve the results you are looking for. 
 
Firs, convert the raster to a "256 Colors" format. This will help creating the color mask. 
 
Create a new color mask and add all the colors that are within the shapes to the mask. You can use the "Palette Selector" to help with the color selection. 
 
Then, use the "Vectorize" tools to digitize the outline of the shape.
