i get the following error when i try to open Point Clouds Dialog on Descartes

nyone any ideas what this is and how i can solve it?

  • Are you having a problem with all point clouds? Is your point cloud a FARO? If so, look at website:

    You can download Bentley PodCreator from the Bentley Software Download Fulfillment site and try converting your Point Cloud. Bentley PODCreator is a free download that will allow you to convert Pont Cloud files to POD files that can be attached in Bentley Descartes > Point Cloud

  • Point Cloud is fine on everyone else's machine in my team. Ive uninstalled Descartes and Reinstalled, no change. I'm on Windows 10, could that be why?
  • If MicroStation 08.11.09.748 was give to you to resolve an issue then you will lose the fix if you go back to the MicroStation 08.11.09.459. There were changes made in Descartes where users have the ability to use multiple power platform products. You may run into compatibility issues running incompatible versions MicroStation and Descartes. If you backwards to an older version of MicroStation and Descartes or if you go forward and install later releases of MicroStation and Descartes it is recommended that you uninstall Descartes and then uninstall MicroStation and then install compatible version of MicroStation and then compatible version of Descartes. if possible it is recommended that you install the latest versions of MicroStation and Descartes.

    When you go into Software Fulfillment select Descartes > Descartes for MicroStation and select the version of Descartes that you are going to install and select the gray arrow on the left side and it will show the compatible version of MicroStation for the version of Descartes for MicroStation.

  • im now getting this error on Descartes 08.11.09.432 and my MicroStation is 08.11.09.459

  • In MicroStation if you do File > Point Cloud and attach the POD file do you get an error message?
    Did you uninstall Descartes and then MicroStation 08.11.09.748 and then clean up the files and folders where MicroStation and Descartes were installed and then reboot and install MicroStation and then Descartes?
    Are you the only one that is having a problem attaching and displaying POD files?
    Are you trying to attach POD files or are you trying to attach a scan file like LAS, PTS, XYZ, FLS or E57?

  • In MicroStation if you do File > Point Cloud and attach the POD file do you get an error message?
    * attached a POD in MS, no issues. Look at same file in Descartes and try and use 'POD Presentation' and get the error

    * Not yet. reason is because other people have started having the issue that didn't have my specific version of MS

    *No, its happening randomly on machines with same versions. i diont see any difference between these machines?!?!

  • i have noticed we have Bentley Rail Track on machines with the Descartes error, but not on the ones that dont have the error. is there any known issues between them?
