Point Cloud density when zooming

Hello,

I am working in Bentley map on a point cloud. I am having an issue with the density of the cloud when I zoom in to see specific features. I need to be able to select objects in the cloud and classify and clip them etc. but when I zoom in the point cloud appears less dense than it actually is and objects are difficult to distinguish. I originally thought that I had lost some of the points when the cloud was exported from Agisoft photoscan, however the overall point number is the same, but in Agisoft the cloud appears significantly more detailed than in Bentley map or Bentley Descartes (same issue with both versions). Is there a setting that I can change to improve this? I have included a screen capture from agisoft (bottom) showing a pipe in the point cloud and the same pipe at a similar scale as seen in Bentley (top image).

  • In View Attributes what is Point Cloud Presentation Style set to? Try setting Style to RGB Color.

  • Hello Frank, The settings are on RGB the weights are appropriate and the density in point cloud advanced is set to 100. I figured out that when the point cloud is added it was being compressed so that no points within 5cm of each other were visible. I have re-imported a cloud with the compression set to "terrestrial Scan Data 0.001 (1mm), which is better, but if possible I would rather have no compression upon import and control the point density through the point cloud advanced tools so that all of the data is present. I can't figure out if it is possible to import a complete uncompressed point cloud, because no compression doesn't appear to be an option. Any suggestions? or is there a way to alter this after it is imported?
    Thanks again,
    Brandy
