LumenRT 2016 layers

In LumenRT 2015, custom objects brought into the live cube as OBJ objects were assigned a new layer based on their file name. It was then possible to switch the objects on and off at various keyframes during an animation.

In LumenRT 2016 this is no longer possible. Objects brought in are dumped into a single layer named "Other LumenRT Content" making it impossible to control their visibility individually.

Is there a workaround to this?
