ContextCapture Center Aerotriangulation Computer Cluster Help

Can ContextCapture Center aerotriangulate using multiple Engines to speed up the processing?

I found in the ContextCapture User manual underneath the ContextCapture Engine section that you can specialize the Engines. It says by default the Engine is set to process both aerotriangulation and reconstruction jobs. Then it states that you can specialize the Engine in a computer cluster to process only a specific job (Aerotriangulation or Tile and RasterProduction jobs only).

Ultimately what I would like to do is set up 7 computers to process the aerotriangulation as well as the reconstruction. So can you set up multiple engines to process the aerotriangulation?

  • Zac,
I also use ContextCapture on a cluster. I could be mistaken, but as far as I understand, the aerotriangulation is treated as a single job. Consequently, it is only processed on a single machine. That being said, you will likely want to have the aerotriangulation run on your most powerful machine. This can be simply done by closing the engines on all of the other machines and submitting the aerotriangulation. Then once the machine you want picks up that job, open up the engines on the other machines for the rest of the processing. Or you can probably automate it using the engine settings you mentioned. Perhaps there is some other way to run aerotriangulation using multiple engines, but I am not aware of it.
I have heard that you can break up your model area into regions and later combine the finished productions using microstation. That might be another avenue to investigate.
