Can I thin a point cloud in Descartes?

Question

I was provided a Drone point cloud that has 8 million points with a .las file that is 273 meg. It is too large to use as my existing surface .dtm file in Inroads. Some of these points are less than an inch apart horizontally. I would like to thin the points to no closer than 1 foot apart horizontally. Can I thin these points with Descartes and export a file that can be used in Inroads? I have Microstation SS4, Inroads SS2 and Descartes for Microstation. I can install a newer version of these products if I need to thin the point cloud.

Yes, in Descartes you can use the clip command and create a new Point Cloud file. or you can look at reducing the density of the Point Cloud.

Modeling Features 
 
Accurate models can be created from a point cloud by employing the use of 
SmartSnap, the Visual Explorer, and isolating portions of the point cloud by 
creating clips, masks as well as sections. Templates and Model Section are 
additional tools provided to simplify modeling features and are described in the 
following sections.

Simplifying the Displayed Data 
 
In most cases it is best to start by reducing the amount of data in the view. 
1.	Use the Point Cloud Clip tools to restrict the display to the relevant area. 
2.	Use the Point Cloud Presentation group settings to display only the classifications of interest. 
3.	Adjust the point density and point size 
 
Tip: the key-ins POINTCLOUD DENSITY and POINTCLOUD WEIGHT can be used to set density and weight to all point clouds inside the dgn. These key-ins can be mapped to function keys or referred to in custom tool bars.

When importing the LAS file one of your options is to enable Spatial Filtering. When you don this you will be able to set the spatial .
