Changelog LumenRT Update 2 - Technology Preview
- import Bentley's new Scaleable Reality Meshes *.3sm
Which program generates this format *.3sm?
Is there a way to create 3SM out of STM (scalable terrain model) with draped imaginary? Basically I have a terrain model created from lidar data. Would like to export that terrain model to LumenRT. It looks that with 3SM I would get good better looking terrain than with dc drape and will avoid issues with STM exzports (only visible part of STM is exported).
Thanks.
Best,
Adam

Hi Adam,
You can create a 3SM from a STM but only the mesh in the STM will be import (i.e. : you will lose the texture).
Alternatively you can import the STM and the raster data or import the original LIDAR data and the raster data, with both you will be able to create a 3SM that should contain the same data as your STM.

Mathieu

Can you guide mu how to create 3SM from lidar with draped rasters? What software is needed for that?
Thanks!
To create a 3SM you need to have the latest Bentley Descartes.
First you need to start Descartes.
After that just open the Reality Mesh Attachments dialog and click New :
The rest should be easy since it is the same workflow (and a quite similar dialog) as when creating an STM.
The only difference is that you also need to add the texture files in the source editor dialog :
Thanks Mathieu! Asked IT for Descartes!
