ContextCapture run time

Besides sitting by the PC with a stopwatch, is there any way to run a job and determine how much clock time that job took? I'm generating a 3D mesh from a set of photos. For benchmarking purposes, I'd like to know how long it took. Does ContextCapture generate a human-readable log file or any indication at all of how long the job took?

My guess is the processor is the bottleneck there. Clock speed is more important than number of cores for the reconstruction so a slowish clock like that might slow a 1080 down to a 1060. A 1080 with a fast processor should be able to process 10 gigapixels faster than 14 hours. I have had good results with the 6700k and the 6850k.

Computer specs: 7th-gen Intel Core i7, 2.8 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, 16 GB RAM, fast 128 GB SSD. There are 809 images, each is 4000 x 3000 pixels (so each image is 12 megapixels). The CPU was getting pretty hot (80 degrees Celsius), but the graphics card was cooler, but it was being used.

What are the specs of the computer and what are the specs on the project you are running?

I havent tested the 1060 vs the 1080 but i have tested cards in previous generations against themselves and the faster cards always perform better. My thoughts are there could be a bottleneck somewhere else in the system or a thermal issue. I know the 980TI would throttle its speed when it hit a certain temperature. Perhaps the 1080 is doing the same (though I am somewhat doubtful. I believe the TI cards throttle because they are basically "suped up" versions of the regular card which results in them running hotter).

Frank,

I'm not concerned about the 14 minutes. I'm trying to decide whether I want to buy a PC with a 1060 vs. a 1080. Everyone keeps telling me that a 1080 will outperform a 1060 by a long shot, so I was expecting a greater difference. The bottom-line question is why does the 1080 only offer a slight performance improvement in my case?
