I've investigated a bit further and the problem is that only the names of both GCS are compared, which in your case are different.

This is certainly a bug since the name only cannot be used to compare the equivalence of two GCS (i.e. : even if the names are different the GCS parameters might be identical).

I'll bring the issue with product management,

Thanks,

Thanks for your input.

Geographics Coordinate Systems (i.e GCS) encoding and naming is kind of tricky, there can be hundred of thousand of combinations. We are always working to improve our Geographics Coordinate Systems system and we did a lot of work to ensure under the hood that the Geographics Coordinate Systems engine in ContextCapture (which was acquired not 2 years ago) is compatible with MicroStation Geographics Coordinate Systems system engine.

I am not sure about this particular case of yours, but for the 3SM format (which will eventually replace the 3MX format) the message you encountered will not occur, since we will automatically reproject the 3SM to the GCS of the model.

That being said the case your encounter might be a bug. We are solving a fair share of those each years (including adding new GCS definitions which are popping up all the time).

If you think your are facing a bug please fill a support ticket.

HTH,

Mathieu
