What drone mission applications (Pix4D, Lichti or other) are most folks using when obtaining drone photos for ContextCapture?
Hi Bill
I have a DJI Phantom 4 drone and use DJI apps to control it (DJI Go 4 - Needed for DJI drone diagnostics. Also has some intelligent flight modes such as oblique Point of Interest. I use DJI GS Pro app for planning photogrammetry missions - Nadir and Oblique). These apps are okay but limited in camera control at way points. For instance, you can only program a single altitude (based on take-off elevation) for all camera positions so no good if you want to create a constant photo resolution at a mine site or over hilly terrain. You would need to pay for a decent app for that. I have also tried Pix4d and Drone Deploy. - pretty similar offerings to the DJI apps.
There's a very nice looking app from http://droneharmony.com/ who (I understand) Bentley have just Partnered with. I haven't tried yet but will do soon.
Hope it helps
We are executing our first drone test project using a DJI Phantom 4. I have the same question about flight DJI GS Pro app software. So far that's what we plan on using. Has anyone found a better solution?
Cliff,
It depends on the project. If it's just terrain or a large area, the DJI GS Pro is great. you will need an iPad to do that. I was doing a 40'x60' barn and I found the DroneHarmony android app to work quite well for the structure scan, GS only offered a circle path. It did take quite a number of tries to figure things out, I'd be happy to discuss at 860.594.3320.
Bill will you be available tomorrow? I'm heading out for the day now. Thanks!
