I have been creating a production in Context Capture of a Point Cloud Survey to be outputted in OBJ so it can be viewed in other products.
The problem is the mesh produced is too dense for other programs to cope.
I have used adaptive tiling in this case but it does not seem to matter what tiling method is employed the model is comprised of 46 tiles
The issue is when Planar Geometric Simplification is used with whatever unit tolerance is applied the output is the same, with only a marginal improvement.
The image below is one tile showing a wall with Standard Simplification applied
The image below is the same wall with Planar Geometric Simplification applied
Are there any settings that will improve the situation and give a less dense mesh ?
Regards
John
Have you tried adjusting the LOD in the exported OBJ when you define the reconstruction formats?
If you want a less dense mesh you can just downsampling the photo resolution.
I read again your question and I saw your input data is point cloud....so my answer was no good...
you could import point cloud data and make another point cloud production putting a bigger point sampling and then from the new point cloud (downsampled) produce a obj.
Otherwise you could produce a 3mx mesh then open the editor, attach the 3mx file, set in the proprieties the export resolution and then export in obj.
