My Co. are just starting to use Bentley Connect and Descartes after extensively using V8i SS4 Versions of these products There seems to be issues with:
Creating clips - The point cloud completely disappears?
Viewing Point Cloud sections created with V8i Version: The view attributes default to clip front, back etc off so manually have to change this after activating on each section ,
and there seems to be other issues that I have not yet understood with legacy sections , basically they do not display as they should or at all?
I have gone through usual sanity checks with view attributes, level displays etc. and the issues still persist.
Any feedback at all would be appreciated.

After 4 months of not using connect version we upgraded connect to update no.10 v10.10 the same problems still exist. We cnnot use the product with sections created in v8i SS4, WHICH IS ALL OUR DATA SET.
Surely we our not the only users having these problems:
view attributes for clip front, back all off when moving from one section to next, changing this and saving setting does not persist and you have to do this agin on each section - totally unusable in a production environment when we are producing thousands of sections.
Also clipping point clouds not working, as previously stated??
Please someone from Bentley give us some assistance with this.

Ah ok I understand the problem you are mentioning with the view attributes at the bottom (I thought at first you were mentioning the Clip Back/ Clip Front settings at the top).
I have entered defect 924599.
As for the clip I tried with a 1.6 GB POD file and the clip mask are working fine.
Could you try upload one of your POD file using the following service?

As for the view update delay, might be related to your POD? Does it occurs with smaller POD file?

thanks for your reply. I am uploading our smallest pod file 1.4gb. Actually some of our pod are as large as 40gb.
Average pod file we use is 10gb.

The defect is scheduled to be fixed during this quarter (i.e.: Q4-2018) on Descartes Connect.

I have just been testing this in MS CE12 and Descartes CE for Chris and the team. It sppears this is still NOT Fixed. This is a fundamental part of Descartes and NEEDS fixing ASAP i.e. CE13. Its yet another reason to NOT USE CONNECT.
Bentley want the users to move to CONNECT, inform them that V8i support is nearing its end, yet the basics do not work so we cannot 100% move....
