Trying to create tile terrain model from 3SM file but getting message "The scalable mesh is not a terrain"
Thanks Mathieu
Hi Pascal - I am using Microstation Connect Update 9 with Descartes version 10.07.00.23
The message "No valid element found in model" occurs when selecting the 3sm model which has been created by the ground extraction tool.

Hi Danny,
What product and version are you using? Also, can you elaborate at what step the "No valid element found in model" message appears?
Pascal
You are right, seem the 3SM terrain created has not the terrain property. I'll check with certification.
If you are using a Bentley Civil product (e.g. : PowerInroads) a workaround would be to create a classify point cloud and import this point cloud.
Note that you might have to recreate another POD file with just the detected ground points.
To do so just attach the POD file created and use the Export function with the following parameters :

Hi Mathieu, I tried what you said but still no success - now says "No valid element found in model".
How is the best method for creating a terrain model from context capture? To capture the breaklines I am drawing them in Descartes to create the STM. Quite a long process! Ground extraction will work but the mesh is too dense to work with.
