Hi
One thing that I don´t understand is why there isn`t a export function to Land XML in Descartes STM. STM is an terrain model function to create terrain models without any civil products in Bentley from Bentley!
I have to export the STM model to external softwares to get an Land XML file and then be able to use the Land XML file in production for GPS system excavators, Tachymeters etc etc.

Ok, I am able to export LandXML using Tile Terrain tool but only from Reality model Scalabel mesh (3SM) and it should be in terrain format(produced by ground extraction). This whole workflow is very confusing(typical for Bentley) and using multiple formats.
Strange that LandXML export is hidden only in Tile Terrain should be possible to export from any terrain.

Here is also workflow for creating 3SM similar to STM in descartes but I can't follow it:https://communities.bentley.com/products/3d_imaging_and_point_cloud_software/f/contextcapture-descartes-pointools-forum/133491/bentley-s-new-scaleable-reality-meshes-3sm/436983
Thanks Oto
What version of Microstation / Descartes are you using??
Lillhannus said:But I don´t understand why when I look at updates for descaartes
When do you search for updates? In Fulfillment Center or using CONNECTION client?
Lillhannus said:there will still be deescartes for CE version 6 or something
Nothing like Descartes for CE version 6 exists ;-)
As dar as I know, right now Bentley Descartes CONNECT Edition Update 3 (standalone product) is available for download. With MicroStation CE Update 9, previous Update 2 is delivered.
Lillhannus said:Bentley Map the same thing.
Don't quite understand, because only one version of Bentley Map CE was released so far and there is even no "Map for CE" available (and it will be not released, only standalone variant).
Lillhannus said:Can I overide the CE version vs Descartes/Map versions an only download the leatest MS CE version and got the newest bundled descartartes/ Map within that MS CE installation????
Because "Descartes CE for MicroStation" installation cannot be downloaded from anywhere, the only way how to update Descartes is to update MicroStation.
This is different situation comparing to standalone Descartes, that can be downloaded and reinstalled manually or updated using CONNECTION client.
Lillhannus said:I only need to get an understanding how this new CE generation is working with the updates. Just now I am lost in versions.
I don't see any issues here, the situation is simpler than it was with V8i: All "for MicroStation" products were canceled, the only exception is Descartes (LumenRT is not MicroStation application, so should not be discussed here). What is delivered with MicroStation has to be updated with MicroStation. Other products can be updated independently.

Contextcapture Editor is separate product but it is based on Descartes so for me moslty I consider it to be equal but there are some differences also they are not updated in same time. With Descartes there are still some mess in CE similar as for LumenRT(designer edition) as both are bundled products in Microstation installation and also as separate downloads so it is possible that sometimes bundled product is newer with new Microstation and sometimes in downloads there are newer version. It is hard to check bundled version number without installing it first. "Update xx" is just naming convention as there could be multiple minor versions with same "Update x" number if the fixes are minimal and no global features are added.
Hi Lilhannus
Please see then link below for details on how to install Descartes for MicroStation CONNECT edition:

Hi Oto,
Oto said:Contextcapture Editor is separate product but it is based on Descartes so for me moslty I consider it to be equal
Equal to what? As you wrote, they are two different products.

This is feature related closesy how software development works. There is no safe and efficient way how to release the code in two different variants (because depends on different base code versions) in the same time.
In my opinion LumenRT is pretty different, because it's not based on MicroStation.

It's probably true. But I don't understand why it should be a problem. When you use Descartes for MicroStation, with every MicroStation you will receive exactly the version certified for this particular MicroStation version. You cannot choose another one. So when you own Descartes for MicroStation, you will/can upgrade when MicroStation is released. When you own Descartes Standalone, you will/can upgrade when Descartes is released.
Regards,
For example this issue with bundled LumenRT Designer- https://communities.bentley.com/products/licensing/f/licensing-and-activation-forum/152457/getting-billed-for-using-lumenrt-designer-that-is-supposed-to-be-free-included-in-the-microstation-license
It is advised to upgrade but there is no separate download for it.

True but still would like to know if it is same version as standalone :)
