Could anybody explain how to host the 3mx web ready model in IIS?
Nothing special to it from memory. They are all static files. I don't recall adding an association for any file types.
So you have your 3MX directory and data sub-directories. You also need the "App" directory which has the *.html file in it. You select to add the "Web" app when you are building it. The App directory has the all the javascript etc to make it work. There is a json file you can edit easily enough that points to the data directory. Can also change icons for your own/client branding.
As long as the relative paths are right, you should be away. So you have a \mesh\ directory for example .. then you have a \mesh\app .. and \mesh\data directories ..
Hit the *.html file with your browser .. \mesh\app\index.html ..
Don't forget to add 3mx and 3mxb in the TYPE MIME of IIS
Hello Vincent,
I know I'm a little late to this, but I was wondering if you could explain what you mean by this> I am using IIS Express and I keep getting HTTP error 404.3, and it talks about MIME a bit but I have no idea what that means.
Cheers
Hugh
Hello Hugh,
Be sur that your 3mx and 3mxb files are allowed to be served by your IIS. If not, you get a 404 when you request the URL of each of them . To allow permission to serve these type of files by your IIS you have to add the correct TYPE MIME for each format. Choose : application/octet-stream.
PS : I'm not on IIS express but IIS
good luck,
Vincent
That seemed to fix it thank you very much. In the end I went to the applicationhost.confi under the Appserver folder in the IIS Express folder in Program files and editing that.
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
