3mx projection in V8i

Should 3mx files project to the correct coordinate system when referenced into V8i SS4? I'm just starting with Context Capture and have made a 3mx file that is georeference from the drone gps data only. It projects as it should in CONNECT, but not in V8i. In V8i it's just centered at 0,0.  I'm wondering if this is a known issue or if I have something set wrong.

  • There seems to be an issue with V8i understanding what units the 3mx is in. I generated a portion of my data directly into State Plane coordinates and it still would not reference to the correct place in V8i. I then opened the 3mx directly with V8i and found that it is scaling everything like it thinks the units are metric when they are actually Survey foot. I went back to my .dgn file and adjusted the reference scale to 1:3.280840 which put the 3mx into the correct place.

CONNECT doesn't have this issue. The coordinates read and scale correctly between units when I open the 3mx directly using CONNECT and it also references properly.

So for some reason it looks like V8i can't tell what units the 3mx is in. I don't know if this is a bug or a setting I need to change somewhere.
