I have a large 3MX file that I want to mask using a shape in MicroStation. I clip the 3mx file and it looks fine in MicroStation, but as soon as I export to LumenRT, the mask is gone.

Hi Eduardo,
I am not sure about 3mx, but I know that there was some problem with the masking/clipping of 3sm, which should be fixed in the next release of LumenRT/MicroStation.
That being said note that for 3sm LumenRT is not supporting concave clipping, which is a limitation we are currently working on.
Thanks,
Mathieu
I watched the video that you suggested and I am able to clip and create a VOB or OBJ file. I am also able to view the 3SM or 3MX in LumenRT but the resolution of the OBJ or VOB files degrades tremendously. Frank did not show what the reality mesh of the fire hydrant looked like in LumenRT probably because the resolution degrades so badly. I needed to actually clip out several areas of the reality mesh where structures or roadways may go through the large 3SM site but the results are not good. It seems that the fact that you create a high resolution reality mesh in CC, loses all of it's appeal when working with ConceptStation and/or LumenRT. I am hoping that the next release of ConceptStation will be considerably better.
Not sure why you are referring to VOB or OBJ file but 3SM is supported natively in LumenRT, so there should be no loss of resolution whatsoever. Maybe you should give more detail about your workflow.
You are also mentioning ConceptStation while originally you were talking about MicroStation. Are you meaning OpenRoads ConceptStation?
For your information the OpenRoads ConceptStation/LumenRT supports very complex clipping for roadway when using 3SM as a terrain.
Unfortunately the MicroStation/LumenRT integration doesn't support such complex clipping, but we are working on that so the same clipping capabilities found in OpenRoads ConceptStation is available with the MicroStation/LumenRT integration.
HTH,
