Compare drones for photogrammetry

Hi!

Does someone know if there is an evaluation or testing of using different brands of drones and models for photogrammetry?

I’ve been using DJI Phantom 3 and DJI Mavic 1 PRO. I never did good compare testing in the same conditions, so I can’t really tell the different for the output.

The DJI Mavic 2 PRO has a 20 MP kamera, compared to Mavic 1 with a 12.7 MP. I theory, for the same conditions (fly height, weather etc), the end result would be 25% better or?

Also, not only the sensor size is responsible for the output. I guess all the hardware it effecting the output, like the GPS, gimbal, compass, optic/lens, light sensitive of the sensor, etc..

Thanks
Peter

  • I want to buy one of the drones that you described in your topic, but before that I will find more information. Does anyone know information about DJI Mavic1 PRO ? On https://buyersimpact.co.uk/ it doesn't get very good reviews, unlike the DJI Phantom 4 Pro Plus, so I'm confused. They are quite different in price, but the second option has much better characteristics. In any case, in mid-December, I will have completely decided what to buy and finally take great pictures in the mountains. Maybe I'll just get to the holiday discounts, which will greatly improve my mood, hehe, because these drones are quite expensive.

  • Mavic1 is not good as it has lower resolution and is small so not good in small wind or for mission flight. Battery capacity also is lower. Mostly useful for fly around object using manual flight.
