This was done using a scanner that I believe is for producing Autodesk compatible format files.I want to import it into Microstation but I am told that to do this I must convert it to a compatible format. I am also told if this is done all the color data is lost. All I will get is a big white blob. So I have some questions on how to do this if it is possible.First is this true or is there a way to maintain the color data when exporting to a compatible format?Second, using the format suggested can I attach it to a DGN file to align my model to the information presented in the cloud?Third, it there a way to convert the point cloud into a 3d model?Fourth, would doing any of these operations work better if used in Descartes?Fifth, I am also told that what I want to do brings the program to a near stand still.Any other information or tutorials that would be helpful would be appreciated. If you can point me in the right direction I might be able to get where I would like to go.I am new to this so I apologize if some of my questions seem mundane. I think that Microstation should be able to do this but I am told it can't.
1) You will need to use Autodesk Recap to convert this file to a compatible format such as E57. You should be able to retain the point clouds colour.
2) You will be able to import this into MicroStation.
3) There is no Automatic process for converting the point cloud to a 3D Model but Bentley Descartes has some tools that will help you to do this.
4) Yes
5) This should not bring the program to a standstill if tit is up to specification

Thank you for the replay and information. I had the file converted to e57 but when trying to attach it in Descartes it failed. I am trying to figure out why. Are there specific settings in the Autodesk Recap that I need to be looking at changing?
I appreciate your help.
Update: I have since initial post been able to export to E57 file but am not retaining the point cloud colors.
I want to convert this to a mesh so I probably need ContextCapture, correct?

Unfortunately I can't advise on Recap it is an Autodesk product. However if the E57 is not working you can try another Export option such as LAS or an PTS, XYZ etc.
Thanks. I finally realized after someone mentioned it to look to the View Settings and got the colors. I am trying to use the Export to .XYZ file to generate a mesh. Hopefully this will work.
I appreciate your patience and help. Your answers did guide me to where I wanted to get to.
