Context Capture - Add constraint from 3D mesh

I have seen a Bentley video about how to use Surface Constraints (www.youtube.com/watch and its description reads "This tutorial describes how to use surface constraints. Surface constraints can be useful to deal with water areas and other shiny, reflective or texture-less surfaces." In this video and in the webinar for Update 15 and in other videos on this topic, they show how to use KML to correct water. However there seems to also be the suggestion that there is a solution to dealing with featureless surfaces. The Geometry Constraints tab under Reconstruction has the button for "Add constraint from 3D mesh...". I have used this to import untextured, geo-referenced OBJ files that represent the featureless surface (aka wall). The results have been pretty dismal. Does anyone have experience with this and been successful? I am trying to address two issues: (1) thin items like painted aluminum awnings have holes when photos show both sides and (2) even large featureless objects like 1000 gallon solid white propane tanks may be omitted in the mesh/reconstruction.
Here is my workflow:

1) Load photos and AT

2) Run a reconstruction/production outputting a geo-referenced OBJ file.

3) Open the OBJ file in Blender (I don't have Descartes and I have seen where Oto and others have suggested that large meshes don't play well with Descartes) and create new geo-referenced OBJ that represents the missing feature (wall, fuel tank, etc.).

4) Create new reconstruction from the AT and add each new OBJ object independently as a Surface Constraint using the "Add constraint from 3D mesh..." button. (I am not retouching or importing tiles)

5) Run production on this reconstruction with output as 3MX.

I have previously tried to fix the geometry in the exported OBJs, but you cannot add vertices/nodes because the UV mapping doesn't work. You just create new gray or black areas. The jpg UV maps don't get updated. CC won't retexture the new model.

I am running CC Desktop Edition Update 15 - v.10.15.0.21

Thanks for any help.
