Dear Forum, im trying to create a 3sm in Descartes for MicroStation, and consistently receiving the error ‘Geolocation is incompatible’ in the Status column of Terrain Scalable Mesh Source Editor. Would anyone know why I get this? Im using MicroStation 10.16.00.80 which has NTv2 built in for auto translation of grids. ive tried this without grids applied and with grids applied as I wondered if the grid selection was affecting it, but it doesn’t work either way? ive made an STM with same data in same file and this does create, so im confused. The output im looking for is a draped 3sm so the STM isn’t able to be used in OpenRail Designer so need the stand alone 3sm. Any help would be appreciated. I created a load of these previously without a hitch, so wondering if im doing something different [I don’t think I am] or the software has changed the way it processes this data?
Have not got clear answer from Bentley what it actually means.
And you are not using STM but 3SM terrain which is different process. STM worked flawlessly but 3SM terrain workflow is still full of bugs which mostly are still not resolved(Defect Report 213859 [resolved], Defect Report 618979,Defect Report 626159 and some more have lost count)
Which Descartes version and Microstation you are using?
im using MicroStation 10.16.00.80 which has Descartes For Microstation Reality Modeling Plug In, so its the Decartes which is rolled into MS and not the standalone. Not sure the DC for MS has a version numnber, as whwn i look at help under Reality Modelling, it still lists version 10.16.00.80.I used the STM workflow as an example that data is ok and can be created but i really need to create a 3SM. Im sure somerhing must have chnaged as ive created several of these last year and dont recall any issue.
even though i thought i knew what i was doing, i was using this workflow frp mthe video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHStwElScTk
Yes this undocumented feature seems to appear in latest versions. I am even seen this warning for files with same coordinate system like creating 3SM from LAS with clip applied from DGN. It seems that this error somehow corrupts 3sm file as afterwards I am not able to regenerate scalable mesh only recreate as new with different name.
im finding if your 3SM doesnt create from the input data aftet this error message, the 3SM is created with 0.000 Export Resolution. Im not sure what this number is but i know i need a figure in this. i have data ranging from .1 to .5.
Anyone else know about the error term 'Geolocalisation is incompatible' as its not a term i see anywhere else?
This is known issue that empty 3sm is hard to regenerate as it is not selectable and it may not show as dirty.Defect Report 618979
