Hi, I have point clouds file .pod for structure that has a lot of pipes, valves, stairs, etc inside. If there is any way to make 3D objects from point clouds, and what version of Bentley possibly could do it. I have Descartes and I am trying to use Point Cloud Advanced tools to make cylinders and planes, but it will take forever and not accurate at all for such complicated structure. Thank you.
What is meant by 3D models? Parametric elements? From Bentley except Descartes there seems to be no more advanced tools and as you unfortunatley already noticed they are not so advanced at all, you still can check model by section tool. Yes you can create a mesh from points in Descartes or Contextcapture but it is no much better than input point cloud or even less tools to work with and convert mesh to solid.
You should look for Terrasolid solutions which work on top of Microstation.
Perhaps you might find the following helpful:

Another option is to create a reality mesh using ContextCapture.
None of these approaches creates pipes, valves or stairs. There are just no tools that would help. If fit plane and fit cylinder is only tools working with reality data that Bentley can offer then it is a bad joke. And reality mesh is even less useful than point clouds.
