Good evening everyone. My name is Luis and I have already asked a few questions here on the forum.
I explained my project in some other questions I asked here before. But, briefly, I plan to make a 3D simulation of an area I'm going to check for flooding for my master's research.
I am currently in the data collection phase to later start the simulations. I am basing myself on these classes (link) and some guides that you have indicated to me.
My question is about how to register images with a drone to generate the 3D model within ContextCapture (as in this video). I would like to know if there is a guide with specific instructions to perform the flight when my intention is to use them for simulation in Openflows FLOOOD. I confess that I don't have much knowledge about this part of using drones to generate images. But I do know that there are some methods like Cross Flight (I don't know if that's what it's called in English, because I translated it literally) or something like that. So, my question is if there is a guide about the precautions that one should take or some specific instructions. Thank you.
Hi Luis,
We have a separate Community for questions specifically on ContextCapture: ContextCapture | Descartes | Pointools | Orbit
Since your question is on guidance for drone flights for ContextCapture, I feel it is best to consult with the ContextCapture team on this. This post can be moved if needed (click the "more" button below your original post to see the Move option, or we can do this on your behalf if needed)
There is some content in their Wiki which may help you:
In the meantime I will consult with my colleagues to see if there is any other guidance on the general workflow on using ContextCapture with FLOOD. (though it seems your question may not be specific to FLOOD).

Hello Jesse!If possible, I would like it to move to the Context Capture area. I created it here because as my purpose is to import it into Openflows FLOOD I figured it would fit here. But thanks for the guides, I will read them soon.
I have moved the post to the ContextCapture forum in case a ContextCapture Support Engineer has further insight, or in case you need more help after reviewing the articles previously provided. We will also plan to publish an article in the OpenFlows wiki on the topic of FLOOD+ContextCapture, linking to the related videos and content.
Back to the question. Following this manual (Urban Flood Simulation - OpenFlows FLOOD) are pictured these files that are used to do the 3D simulation. Could you tell me if for the DSM file with the .asc extension I can only do this output through ContextCapture or can I get this file formatting through third party software?
Hello,
You can use any raster file (e.g. ESRI ASCII grid *.asc files, TIFF, DEM, FLT; etc) to create you flood model.
However if you want to render the results in 3D in LumenRT you'll need reality mesh (3sm, or other formats supported by LumenRT:
Kind regards;
Luis
