Hi

Is it possible to attach geo tagged photos to MS as georefered raster??

  • Hi,

No right now MicroStation (Raster Manager) do not read the exif information when attaching it.

But, some of these tags are read by projectWise Geospatial to help retrieve them.

    Sorry

  • Hi Yves

Is there any plans to support this in MS or Descartes in NEAR future ??

  • Hi,

I have filed CR 338008 concerning this request.

    Thanks,

Great news... but could you also create a note that an workflow is needed for geotagged photo use beside the ordinary raster attachment workflow.

Here is some of my ideas.....

    Idea "hyperlink"

Because photos, what I think in my case would be something like an hyperlink where the position of the on-screen marker (like photo markers in google earth) is created from position (coordinates) in EXIF information.

......when you open the hyperlink (hyperlinkmodel):

It would also be great to expand the EXIF information format reading that if you attach the "photo", system would be able to read, latitude and longitude of the image, and optionally altitude, compass bearing and other fields may also be included that could give you 3D position for the image attachment.

....why on-screen markers instead of raster attachments

I think this technic is going to be used for documentation more than raster attachments therefor it needs "small" on-screen marker that opens the photo in more advanced way than raster manager does so the drawing "project" stays "looks" as usual but with the important image documentation points to add more value to the information of the site/project.

Hoping these ideas is worth thinking of....

    Thanks
