Hi
I wan´t to use the print preparation tools from BM SS3 with MS SS3 as an company standard plot system therefor I wan´t to load the print preparation tools whit MS SS3 without BM SS3 configuration inclusive printprep dialogs etc. Installed software from bentley for all user are always, MS SS3, Descartes SS3 and BM SS3. I know this works but I need more specific instructions what variables I need to add for loading Printprep.ma in MS SS3 configuration to manage this issue.

Tom
Hi. Since Print Preparation is delivered with Map and is part of Bentley Map, you shouldn't try to run it outside its application. You could, and most probably will, run into problems and things that will not work. I recommend that you have Bentley Map installed on those computers.

Hi Martin
I know about all the problems that can occure but I don´t have any chance to do otherwise because I am uninstalling the V8 2004 edition for all users where our plotsoftware (PlotManager) is created and running, and one of the strongest requirements I have from the users are that there is an plotsoftware that they can use when implementing the SS3.
So what are my options. Is there any plot software that anyone can recomend instead of printpreparation tools.

Are you saying you were running PrintPreparation from a 2004 edition of another software, straight on Microstation ?
You could install Bentley Map SS3 on those Microstation SS3 seats and you would get the PrintPreparation module working.
No we are NOT running PrintPreparation from a 2004 edition of another software, straight on Microstation!!!!!
( :) cool if it would work...BUT NO)
The PlotManager is a plot software what I and my friend has developed for ONLY v8 2004 edition back in 2005"!!! BUT the application that we created was so excellent that our user just love it for it´s simplicity and straight forward workingflow.
We are NOT planning to further develop the application so our users have NO options to manage the plots as the MS is developt now, my "hidden" idea was to further develop the printpreperation tools functions and add with help of mdl the workflow and functions needed for dayly production of mapping "sheets"
So thats why I investigate how to load the whole printpreparation session independent from the bentley Map installation. yes I now that the print preapatetion is installed ONLY with Bentley Map but if you take a closer look of the print preparation configuration and the installation paths, there is a huge possibility to be able to load the print preparetion "outside" the bentley map configuration, and that is my questions and thread point in general. how and what of the print preparation functionality is possible to load direct from MS SS3 standard installation (requeries the the installation of BM of course) to load all of neccerary vba:s and dglibs etc needed for printpreparation to work as in Bm configuration, this shouldn´t be any bigger problem because printprep is handled by it`s own .cfg file (see under SS3 instralation Config Appl cfg files you see by your self that Printprep is having it´s own configurations)
The lack of the same functionality that printpreparration is having SHOULD BE AN STANDARD option to pure Ms Installation, thats because all users (99% of them) needs to get an drawing printed with 100% scale accuracy and with drawing borders made standard for each company. (fill in comments if i`m wrong by this issue) so I don´t understand why bentley can´t take this print preparation functionality and make it an core issue in MS, that would help a lot.
With this starting issues said I will wait for answers of possible configuration possibillities rather than comments "problem, don´t work, not standard and so on) as I described earlier this is i REQUEST and DOMAIN FUNCTIONALITY for my users and I be possibility for them to have an easy (easy....not for the moment..but with some own mdl development it should be possible) workflow to manage getting plots independent what work they do (GIS, Civil, Engineering,, map, etc,)
Thanks
