Hi Forumtrying to import a Leica .bin point cloud into AECOSim V.08.11.09.593 SS4 and the conversion process allows me to open the conversion box, but them once i allow it to convert, what looks like from the .bin to a .pod file, it says 'Convert Failed'.2 screen shots to follow. SS1 below shows an error about different units. This .bin point cloud is a from a client so initially i thought i'll change my working file this is being imported into [its blank] so the untis match. did this now it says: 'Convert Failed' again, but i dont see any clues on how what or why? Any help?
I do not believe the convert failed because of the different units, I believe the ‘different units’ message was just an informational message.
How large is the .BIN file and can you upload it to here for testing?
Have you tried the convert in standalone MicroStation and had any success there?

File is attached as rar as i couldnt upload the .bin.I wouldnt know a large Point Cloud size as this is my first foray into PCsi understand that Microstation and/or AECoSim needs to translate it to a POD file, neither of these programs for me can do this for some reason
Yes you are right all point cloud needed to be converted to the POD file format.
I have tried to convert your .bin file with MicroStation without success. Since this seems to be a .bin to .pod conversion problem I would suggest that you post your question here : communities.bentley.com/.../254815.aspx.
Also you could try to check if the conversion can be done with our PODCreator, which can be downloaded for free from here : www.bentley.com/.../Bentley+Pointools+PODcreator.htm.
PODcreator fails with this bin file
PS: you'll need Cyclone for that
It seems that this is a bug, so I have entered bug TFS #24360.
