The tolerances on a project are very tight and the dimensions need to be within a 16th of an inch accuracy if at all possible. What is the best way to model walls using point cloud data?

Sorry for the delay, I was out of the office.

You can check the video at this location : www.youtube.com/watch.

Also does it fail with both the slab and prism mode?

If you can provide a dataset I would be glad to check what is going on.

Thanks,

Do you know if there is a screen movie of this function. Every time I try ti use it, I get the message Plane extraction failed (I'am very sure that I only select the right pointclouds).

Thanks in advance,

Another alternative to the solution described by Karsten is to use the tool called Fit Plane (Point cloud manager`s menu->Edit->Fit Plane) in Bentley Descartes.

To use the tool you simply needs to select the points of the point cloud representing the wall to model.

Note that it is very important to select only the points modelling the wall and not any other points to ensure the highest precision possible.

Thanks,

Use Accudraw sticky Z to make sure all wallvertices are on the same Z-high.

At least this is what I'll show in Birmingham at the Learning Conference ;-) Hopefully I'm right
