Problem Description

When I try and stamp a line in Descartes using Stamp Vector it does not work.

Steps to Resolve

Open DGN file and try the Stamp Vector command

These are the steps to use.

Open DGN file
Attach the raster image file in Read/Write mode
- NOTE: The raster image must be in Read/Write mode
In Descartes place a line
In Raster Manager select Tools and then select Rasterize.
- This places the Rasterize toolbox on the view.
Select Match Line Mapping Settings

Clicked on the line you drew
You should see it highlight.
Select Stamp Vector

Select the line
You should see it highlight
Click to Accept it

If you draw a color line when you do the Stamp Vector the line will be White/Black depending on your background color.

To determine what your Line Mapping settings should be set to

They are found by selecting the 4th icon on the Rasterize tool palette. The way the settings work is say you put .1 for the Line Weight of 0. Since your design file master unit is Inches then if you stamped a line that had a weight of 0 it would be as close to .1 inches thick as the pixels would allow.

A quick way to set these is to zoom out/in until you get the vector to the thickness you would want it to be as a vector. Usually you have to zoom out because when zooming in the vector lines don’t change but raster lines get thicker as you zoom in. Once you have it chosen the Match Line Mapping Settings tool which is the 3rd icon on the Rasterize tool palette and it will set the settings automatically. Then try a stamp and see what you think.

In general, stamped vectors will either have the same color as the original vector element (RGB raster data) or it will use the inverted background color (Monochrome raster).

The background color needs to be set to color 0 or color 255.
