With Bentley Descartes it is possible to access raster (i.e. : Oracle's GeoRaster feature) stored in an Oracle database as any other raster file stored locally on disk.
During Bentley Descartes loading a new sub-menu item named Oracle GeoRaster... is added to Raster Manager under the sub-menu item Attach as shown below :
Connecting to an Oracle database is the first step that needs to be done before being able to attach raster stored in an Oracle database.
The option below is only valid when the Service Name connection has been selected.
The options below are only valid when the Connect Descriptor option has been selected.
Once the connection has been made, the connection information is kept so that you don't have to reconnect during the MicroStation session (i.e. : until MicroStation is close).
Note that Descartes currently supports only one Oracle database per MicroStation session.
Once the connection to the database has been done, it is possible to attach GeoRaster to Raster Manager using the dialog below.
When a row is selected instead of a table in the Oracle Database Table List pane, the GeoRaster Explorer dialog looks like below.
The search dialog shown below allow you to search for GeoRaster in the Oracle Database. As most database, the search of the Oracle Database is performed using an SQL command. So, the search dialog can be seen as an interface for building an SQL command.
Once the search is done the found rows will be displayed in the Selected Table's Rows pane of the GeoRaster Explorer dialog (see item 2 in the dialog pictures above).
The order in which the matching rows (i.e. : GeoRaster) will be displayed. The sorting is done according to the various items (i.e. : columns or properties) of the searched table.
This dialog can be used to select the properties to shown for the matching rows (i.e. : GeoRaster).
