Descartes will not start from shortcut

Problem Description

When I use the Desktop shortcut to run Descartes it will not open correctly. It will try to open and freeze on a gray screen. If I start Microstation, open a .DGN file, and do the key-in "mdl load dcartes" Descartes will then load correctly.

Reason

The dcartes.upf file corrupted.

Steps to Resolve

While in a .DGN file in Microstation go to workspace - about workspace. This will show you the path to the .upf files.
Open up a Windows Explorer dialog and browse to the path shown in Microstation.
Shut Microstation down.
In the Windows Explorer dialog, delete the dcartes.upf file.
Restart Descartes from the shortcut and it will work properly.
