Installation - Compatibility Error Message Installing Bentley Descartes

Problem Description

When I try and install Descartes 08.11.09.601, I get a message “No compatible Descartes core product installed, please install a compatible Descartes core product and relaunch this setup.”

Steps to Resolve

The problem that you are seeing is that when you downloaded Descartes you did not download the compatible version of MicroStation.

 

In Internet Explorer:

 

http://selectservices.bentley.com/en-US/

Select Software Downloads

 

 

You will have to enter your Bentley Login

 

 

Select Brand >

Select Descartes

Select Bentley Descartes for MicroStaiton

Select All Downloads

To make it easier to find select

Language > “Language of application that is being used” (Example: English)

In the Product Download list select the version of Descartes you want to download or have downloaded.  (For Example: Descartes 08.11.09.601)

On the left side of the download for Descartes you will see a gray arrow.

Click on the gray arrow and you will see the MicroStation Dependencies for Descartes

(For Example:  Descartes 08.11.09.601)

 

 

You will need to download Descartes if it has not been downloaded and the compatible version of MicroStation  installation files.

After you have downloaded the Descartes and MicroStation installation file then you will need to install MicroStation and then Descartes.

 

NOTE:  We have seen issues if you run the installation files and upgrade the existing version of MicroStation and Descartes.  We recommend that you uninstall Descartes and MicroStation and delete the existing files and folders where the existing versions were installed. 

 

After you have uninstalled Descartes and MicroStation and deleted the existing installation files and folders you can then install MicroStation and Descartes. (You might also consider changing the install path for MicroStation and Descartes by adding a number after SelectSeries. 

For Example:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries5)

C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries5)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Descartes for MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 5)

 

After you have installed MicroStation and Descartes go to

Start > All Programs > Bentley > Bentley Descartes for MicroStation

Select Bentley Descartes Platform Configuration

Make sure all products in the list that will be running Descartes are marked
