When opening raster reference files in Raster Manager, most I/RAS B aficionados have probably witnessed display issues-if the files have been previously attached using legacy versions of I/RAS B.
These issues range from incorrect positioning on the design plane to improper rotation and skewing of data. Images typically display correctly using I/RAS B, yet produce varying display results for Raster Manager. This particular issue has only affected users whose workflows involve porting raster images back and forth between I/RAS B and Raster Manager. Users relying solely on I/RAS B for their raster needs should not be affected.
This Raster Manager versus I/RAS B reference issue is based upon differing Type 90 (raster reference) interpretations between Bentley and the previous owner of I/RAS B. Once the code changed hands, Bentley was able to resolve conflicts of this nature, allowing a smoother integration between these two applications. For users who have run across this perplexing issue, the following resolutions provided in I/RAS B V8 alleviate it very simply.
A new set of commands has been added to I/RAS B V8. These commands address the aforementioned issue with Type 90 elements. The new Update command, located on the I/RAS B pulldown submenu File - Reference - Update, automatically forces an update to previously attached raster attachments. Figure 1 denotes the menu structure to access the Update command within I/RAS B.
After the raster attachment has been updated within I/RAS B, legacy raster reference attachments (i.e., images having been previously attached using older versions of I/RAS B) should appear within Raster Manager as expected. Coincidentally, it is also possible to update the raster reference attachments by simply saving the raster image within I/RAS B as well. Saving raster images uses the File - Save - Active submenus, also accessed from the I/RAS B pulldown menu. Both the Update and Save commands now correct issues with differing Type 90 elements providing further integration between I/RAS B and MicroStation's Raster Manager.
The new key-in commands associated with the Update command are as follows:
Key-in commands are necessary for use with the I/RAS B batch processing tool, Rasbatch. For users unfamiliar with Rasbatch, several examples of script files are located in the ...Bentley\Program\Irasb\rasbatch directory. Information on using Rasbatch via command line is located in the I/RAS B Help files.
