Error or Warning Message

Getting error message “Out of range exception – [14]” in Raster Manager when doing Batch Convert and SaveAs using a MrSID raster image when converting to Internal TIFF and GeoTIFF raster formats.

“Out of range exception – [14]”

Explanation

The “Out of range exception – [14]” error means that the output file cannot be created because it would exceed the file size limit.  The workaround would be to save to Internet TIFF64 raster format.  MrSID files are highly compress images and when converted or saved to a different raster image format a large raster image is created. For an example a 715 MB MrSID raster image will create a 27.1 GB Internet ITIFF64 raster image.

How to Avoid

The Tiff file formats (TIFF, GeoTIFF, iTIFF, etc.) cannot exceed 4GB in size. However, the iTIFF64 format does not have this limitation because it is a 64-bit format and was created to address those cases
where users need to create a TIFF based file that is larger than 4GB.
