Raster Image Being Attached in the Wrong Location

    Applies To
    Product(s): MicroStation Civil Extension

    Problem Description

When I attach a raster image they are being attached at the wrong location.  Another user can attach the raster image and it is attached in the wrong location.

    Steps to Resolve

On the workstation where the raster image is not attaching in the correct location do the following.

    1.)     Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Georeference

2.)    Check the working units for Raster File and Sister File

3.)     Make sure they are correct

4.)    If your raster image has a World/Sister File

5.)    Set ”Use Sister File if Present"

    6.)    Detach raster image

    7.)    Attach raster image

If you have another workstation where raster images are being attached in the correct location you can compare the Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Georeference settings and verify the working units and “User Sister File” sets are the same.

If you are attaching an ECW image and it is being attach in the wrong location.  Check folder where ECW image file is located to see if you have an ERS and/or EWW files.  The ERS file may contain data that Raster Manager cannot read correctly.

The EWW and the ERS files are both Sister/World files that determine where an ECW image is attached in MicroStation.  MicroStation > Raster Manager has a problem reading the data in the ERS file, which causes ECW images to be attached in the wrong location.

1.)    Try renaming your ERS files so it will use the EWW sister file

2.)     Make sure "Use Sister File, if Present" marked in Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Georeference.

The ERS file must be renamed, deleted or moved to a different folder in order for the ECW image to be attached in the right location.  If the ERS file in left in the folder it will be read even though "Use Sister File, if Present" is not marked, which causes the ECW image to be displayed in the wrong location.
