    Problem Description

User attaches raster images to a design file that has Georeference settings. User does a reprojection of the raster images to move them to correct coordinate system location.  The user wants to be able to save the coordinate system of the raster images so they will be attached in the correct coordinate system the next time they are attached in a dgn file.

    Reason

Raster image attachment location will be lost if raster image is detached and reattached in dgn file or attached in a different dgn file.

    Steps to Resolve

Descartes must be used to create the new
raster images. Use the following procedure to create the necessary files to
maintain the correct coordinate system location if the raster images are
detached and reattached in the DGN file or they are attached in a different DGN
    file.

    1. Attach your raster images in Raster Manager and reproject the raster images to the
correct coordinate system that you want them to be located.
    2. Click on your raster image name in Raster Manager and select File > Save As
    3. Under Options change Resampled and Reprojected to “Yes” and tell it to create a sister file.
    4. Click OK
    5. Change the Raster Image Name to a different Raster Image Name
    1. (Example: from 325865.tif to 325865_Proj.tif)
    • Save
    • Detach and reattach the new raster image

If sister file is not created user will have to double click on raster image name in Raster Manager and in the Element Information box  change Geometry > Geocoding > Inherit GeoCS from Model to “Not Inherited”. The recommended procedure is to create a sister file, which will be used when the raster image is attached in Raster Manager.

When attaching the raster images in Raster Manager make sure Workspace > Preference > Raster Manager > Georeference > “Use Sister File, if Present, for Georeferenced Files” is marked.  It will cause the raster image sister file to be read when the raster image is attached in Raster Manager.

If the raster image is being sent to another company or contact it recommended that a Sister File be created and sent with the raster image file.
