N\A

With the recent release of Bentley LumenRT CONNECT Edition, Update 2 it is now possible to generate and export a spherical video, suitable for playback in 3D viewers (such as YouTube) and phone-based VR headsets such as Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR.

How to Accomplish

Exporting your animation out as a 360 degree spherical video is as easy as entering the correct settings during export. Once you've completed creating your video and now want to export, ensure that the following options are enabled:

It is recommended that you use the "YouTube" video encoder when creating 360 VR output since this will inject the necessary metadata into the mp4 file in order for YouTube and VR headsets to automatically recognize the 360 format. Alternatively, you can manually inject the metadata into your mp4 file by using the Google metadata injector found here: github.com/.../360.Video.Metadata.Tool.win.zip

It is also now possible to export out to 8k UHD format. It should be noted that there are very few viewers/headsets that have the capabilities to play back 8k videos. On top of that, the codecs necessary to encode/decode the 8k videos are immature and difficult to obtain. Currently, LumenRT can only export out to an uncompressed 8k, while future releases will include 8k mp4 output.
