    The Reality Data Widget

The Reality Data Widget offers a consistent Reality Data consumption experience across all of Bentley’s « Powered by iTwin » web applications.

There are multiple distinct workflows for optimizing and uploading Reality Data to the ProjectWise ContextShare service. Those workflows are grouped in two distinct categories:

    1. iModel Connector: In this workflow, Reality Data is attached to a DGN file and is automatically published to ProjectWise ContextShare when the DGN file is published by an iModel Connector. The resulting Reality Data is optimized for use in iTwin applications, associated to an iTwin (project or asset) and attached to the destination iModel. Note that Reality Data are only published once for a given DGN/iModel combination.
    2. Reality Modeling desktop application: In those workflows, an application such as ContextCapture, Descartes or the Orbit Import and Upload Tool is used to publish a Reality Data to ProjectWise ContextShare. The resulting Reality Data is optimized for use in iTwin applications, associated to an iTwin (project or asset), but is not attached to any iModel.

No matter which workflow is used to publish Reality Data to ProjectWise ContextShare, the Reality Data Widget is the user interface component that enables you to manage the visibility and display settings of an iTwin's associated Reality Data within iTwin applications.

The following Reality Data formats are optimized for use in iTwin applications and listed in the Reality Data Widget:

    Icon Type Extension
     Cesium 3D Point Cloud .json
     Cesium 3D Tiles .json
     OpenStreetMap Buildings Third-party resource
Web Ready 3D Scalable Mesh .json
     Web Ready Point Cloud .opc
Web Ready Terrain Scalable Mesh .json

    Properties

Click the name of a Reality data in the list to see its properties.

    Authoring

When a pencil icon is displayed next to the reality data's name, it means that the reality data is being authored by another user and may be incomplete.

    Toggle Reality Data Visibility

Use the "eye" icons to turn On/Off the display of Reality Data in the application's viewport.

    Filter the Reality Data List

Use the "Search" icon to filter the list of Reality Data using simple text searches.

Use the “Filter” icon to filter the list of Reality Data using advanced property-based filters

    Apply Filters

    • Turn ON to apply the defined filters to the widget's reality data list.
    • Turn OFF to disable the defined filters, thus listing all supported reality data that are associated to current project.

    Filter By

    Location

    • Select the "Intersects Model" option to stop listing the reality data that do not overlap the opened iModel or reality data's spatial footprint.

    Time

    • Select a date in the "From" option to stop listing the reality data that were acquired before that date.
    • Select a date in the "To" option to stop listing the reality data that were acquired after that date.

    Type

    • Select the "Cesium 3D Point Cloud" option to only list the reality data of that type.
    • Select the "Cesium 3D Tiles" option to only list the reality data of that type.
    • Select the "Web Ready 3D Scalable Mesh" option to only list the reality data of that type.
    • Select the "Web Ready Point Cloud" option to only list the reality data of that type.
    • Select the "Web Ready Terrain Scalable Mesh" option to only list the reality data of that type.
    • Select the "Third Party Resource" option to only list OpenStreetMap Buildings.
