Thanks for confirming this.

The confusion of new users is my main concern. However, the impact on a portion of our translation process (where manual intervention is required) is only suspected at this point. My apologies for not being more clear.

Hi Rod,
This is a default behaviour of the Element Selection tool, along with double-click to edit text and a couple of others. I'm not aware of any setting that can disable it.
It seems odd that a setting that is totally related to a specific user interaction might be implicated in a batch process?

Thanks for your reply. I was hoping to find a configuration variable or user preference that could disable this default behavior. So far, I have not. If one doesn't exist, we will consider filing an enhancement request.

We are soon to have close to 2,000 new users working in a highly automated/simplified environment with minimal training. We have seen in our initial pilot testing where this feature can cause confusion and frustration with new users. Additionally, we are seeing issues with some of our batch file translation routines where this appears to be the cause.

Ok, I deduced it myself: It seems you are talking about MicroStation and double click when Element Selection tool is active.

It seems to be default behaviour described in MicroStation documentation. How would you like to change this behaviour? When the selection mode is changed to block and the selection is finished, the mode returns back to individual automatically.
