Setting-up client's workspace on network drive

Hello there,

My company just started to use MicroStation V8i SS3. Now, we are trying to set-up the client's workspace on network drive but

we don't have knowledge how to make it works: I am MicroStation V8i SS3 user but haven't done any admin. before. I've read

related articles in Bentley Communities but it is too complicated to follow the procedures for me. Is there any easy way to set-up?

We have Client's workspace, which works on C drive perfectly, including custom tools, colour table, linestyles, cell libraries, font

resources files and so on. If we install the Client's workspace in Network Drive and make the shortcut targeting Network Drive

(adding -wr P:Client\workspace\... ...), do you think it works or we still need to edit configuration?

FYI, the procedure I found is from MicroStation-Help-Contents-Setting Up Projects-Workspaces-Worspace Foundamentals-Selecting

Workspace Components: Please see the image.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Heeae

  • Hello Andrew,

Thank you so much for your response.

I will try to follow the procedure you linked.

    ADDED:    Hello Andrew,

I quickly looked the settings after I replaced the mslocal.cfg and it seems the easy way is working on my network drive.

I didn't need to update the target field in the shortcut tab but I feel some files such as DGNLIB in Workspace-Configuration need to be pointed

to a shared workspace on network drive..

Thank you so much for your help.

    Best regards,
